About Us

Little did we know that a stop at a little country antique shop would change our lives forever. Here’s our story.

Back in 2007, after having turned our business over to my son, my wife and I were settling into the idea of recreational retirement. Then one day while driving down a Texas highway when we spotted an interesting antique shop.

We decided to stop and browse a little as it looked like the kind of antique shop where you would find only “one of a kind” in the whole world. We didn’t find that “one of a kind” but we did pick up a few items and proceeded to the counter to pay for our purchases.

Having paid for our purchases, we were headed for the exit, when what looked to be an aging 1960’s hippy emerged from a back room and approached the counter. He was rather tall, dressed in blue denim trousers, checkered flannel shirt, 1960 sandals and his graying hair was pulled back into a pony tail.

He ask if we had tried his soap. We told him no and that we didn’t realize he sold soap. He motioned to the corner of the counter where there were several 1/3 size bars of soap and told us to take a couple and try them out. Then he began to tell us why his soap was so special.

He told us that he was a retired herbal chemist and had done considerable research on Emu oil and other natural ingredients. He had experimented with various formulas which included Emu oil and a variety of herbs.

Acknowledging that although he knew Emu oil was a great product for the skin on its own, he discovered that by combining the Emu oil with Cayenne, not only was the effectiveness of emu oil enhanced but the circulating qualities of cayenne improved the overall performance of the emu oil.

After his sales pitch, we decided to buy a couple full size bars. as I didn’t think that the small sample bars would be much of a test for the length of the trip we had planned. The next day we showered with the soap and was pleasantly surprised at how our skin seemed to be softer.

After a few more days we noticed that some of the little bumps on our arms and legs had disappeared. The next time we were in the area, we visited with the chemist and purchased several bars of soap for members of our family and friends. Everyone really liked the soap.

It was on the next visit that he introduced me to a lotion/cream that he claimed was excellent for dry skin, rashes and other skin disorders. He again went into how the product worked and why it was so different from anything on the market.

He explained that some of the ingredients on commercial soaps, shampoos, lotions and creams actually dried out the skin instead of moisturizing it. This got us curious and the more questions we asked, the more intriguing it all sounded. He ask us if we would like to sell the product for him.

After a couple weeks we told him we were interested, but before we could make a commitment, we would like a couple dozen jars of the cream to give away to family, friends and others.

We needed to find out if this product was as good as the chemist was telling us.

We even went so far as to purchase several containers of a very popular body lotion. We put this lotion into small one ounce containers and marked the top of the jar with an "X". In the other containers we put Desert Wind lotion and marked the jars "Y".

The jars were distributed to women of all ages and skin types with instructions to use the contents of one jar on one arm and hand and the contents of the other container on the other arm and hand.

The results....93 percent of the women involved in the test selected Desert Wind All Natural Body lotion over the name brand.

To make a long story a little shorter, our “recreational retirement craze” hit us again, but this time before we left on our trip out west, we purchased several hundred jars of cream and bars of soap, loaded up our motor home and headed to California. Along the way we distributed the soap and cream to everyone we came in contact with from Texas to California (the long way).

During our trip and talking with others we discovered that most people suffer from some form of dry, irritated skin, psoriasis, eczema and other skin problems.

Most were not totally satisfied with the product they were using and were constantly on the lookout for something better…AND THAT’S when our BRIGHT IDEA came to fruition.

We gave the soaps and creams away freely, but with one reservation. We requested that the people send us an email letting me know their opinion about the products. The positive results were overwhelming.

One email we received was from a man whose hands were so dry that they were badly cracked and bloody. He stated that within one week after using Desert Wind Cream his hands had healed. He was amazed!

Women were commenting on how soft their skin became and how little of the product they needed to apply. In addition, everyone was impressed with the Non-Greasy feeling after applying the cream. One even commented that it seemed to just disappear into her skin.

We discovered how rewarding it is to finally be doing a “job” you love doing, which is to provide your family, friends and “strangers…at first”, a great product to help their skin feel better, smoother, softer, more moist, and no more itchy, scaly, patchy dry skin.

There are no artificial ingredients in our products, no chemicals, detergents, or parabens… nothing…just all natural ingredients. Most Desert Wind products are offered unscented or with a choice of fragrances. However, at this time, some of our products are available only unscented.

If we didn’t feel very strongly about these products we wouldn’t sell them. As a matter of fact, we are so convinced that Desert Wind Skin Care products are the best available, that we offer an unconditional money back guarantee on all our products. There are no strings attached. Just return the soap wrapper/box or unused jar or bottle and a full refund will be sent right out to you.

Will Desert Wind Skin Care products work for you? We believe so, they have for many others. You have nothing to lose by trying them and they just may be the products for which you have been searching.
